The only 08 Midjourney parameters you need to master the tool - part 1/3
Midjourney doesn't need to be complicated at all, all you have to do is master this
Hey, roaders, welcome to another edition from yours truly! By the way, we just crossed 100 subscribers two days ago, and I'm extremely humbled by it. Thank you!
With that being said, gotta go fast cause over here our promise is to always go fast.
What you need to know beforehand
What Midjourney is (if you don't know this… boy, oh boy)
How to use it, even if barely (it's ok if you don't, and let me know if that's the case!)
That we add parameters by adding a space at the end, and then --[name-of-parameter] [value]. It will become clear with the examples below.
We will be using just one example with many variations in this post. This example will be:
/imagine outer space planet with cute robot in the background, minimalistic
(that's the base prompt we use for our thumbnails, btw)
Parameter 01: --ar X:Y
This one is, by far, the strongest one that most affects your results. Here's the prompt above with no --ar:
Now, adding --ar 16:9 (at the end):
Conversely, here's --ar 9:16:
And, remember that from v5.1 onwards, any combination of X and Y for --ar X:Y is allowed, so I suggest you go crazy with it and see what you get!
Parameter 02: --c [0-100]
--c stands for chaos, my friend. Usually it's set up at 0, and the amount you put means how different each generation will be amongst each other. Since it's a very volatile parameter, let's see what we get with --c 20 and --c 100, plus --ar 16:9:
--c 20:
--c 100:
You can notice how, at level 100, it doesn't even resemble a “cute” robot anymore in #1 (it's actually quite the nightmare material).
My recommendation is that, whenever you use --c, use it sparingly and range it mostly from 0 to 33 at most. Otherwise you risk Midjourney straying too far from your original prompt.
That's it for today, beautiful people. Otherwise it would grow to 1,500+ words, and that would be too much for one sitting, I believe. Go and play with what you got!
