πŸš€ Landing Page analysis: How to leverage ChatGPT for even stronger optimization

πŸš€ Differences and Similarities in Human vs AI takeaways

I love analyzing landing pages, so I searched on Product Hunt for something and stumbled upon this: https://www.informed.so/.

I analyzed it without the help of ChatGPT first, and then I compared my analysis to what ChatGPT had to say. Let's see what happened! πŸ‘€

This is what the product looks like:

Human analysis (a.k.a my analysis) πŸ‘©β€πŸ”§

I focused only on three things to improve:

Information Hierarchy: The first thing that caught my attention was the information hierarchy. My eyes bounced around between different pieces of information, and not one stood out in my first impression. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

There are some informations on the left, a lot of different logos on the bottom, and other messages on the right. It's hard to focus on any message with so many competing for attention.

Headline: "Daily Briefs. For presidents and everyone else”. From the headline, it is clear that the product is a daily newsletter providing important news for everyone, from presidents to the general public, like us. πŸ§‘β€πŸ€β€πŸ§‘

However, the current headline does not convey any advantages over other similar newsletters. Upon reading the right section, it becomes apparent that the unique advantage of this newsletter is that it is curated by experts.

This idea is also conveyed in the slogan below the logo, β€œThe news, curated”. To make this advantage more prominent, the revised headline should emphasize the curated aspect of the newsletter.

CTA: The CTA is on the right, hidden amongst a lot of information. When I read the text above the CTA, "Subscribe now and get 14 days free," I immediately had an objection about whether I would need to input my credit card information or not. πŸ’³οΈ

This objection could cause potential leads to leave the landing page without taking any action or leaving any contact information. Perhaps offering a lead magnet could address this issue.

Imo, these three factors are the most important to change. I am only focusing on improvements here to keep it brief, but of course there are several positive points on this landing page. πŸ™‚

Alright, I've finished my analysis. Let's see what ChatGPT will say about it.

ChatGPT analysis πŸ€–

Just to clarify a few things:

  • I used the browse feature available on ChatGPT-4 to enter the URL for analysis.

  • The prompt I used was:

β€œAnalyze this landing page, choosing only 3 topics to focus on, and focus only on the hero section of this landing page: https://www.informed.so/”

Leeeet's see what he had for me:

You can see that, although the topics he chose to talk about were pretty much the same as mine, he wasn't nearly as critic as I was. So, let's make him be a little more critic:

analyze again, but be more critic: tell me improvements you would make to it

What he had for me this time was this:

Now we are talking! Similar critics we both had about it:

  1. Headline is kinda vague

  2. Visual presentation is kinda all over the place

  3. CTA is compelling but leaves room for confusion

It's interesting to note some differences, too, such as:

  1. I worried about whether I would need to input a cc or not, ChatGPT worried about the cost I would have to pay after 14 days.

  2. I suggested bringing the headline more towards a focus on its curated aspect, ChatGPT suggested adding a target (β€œfor the informed reader")

All in all, it's fantastic how - overall - both analysis were similar. So, what are my takeaways?

  1. Do a blind run first, don't use ChatGPT

  2. Then, use it - but make sure to ask it to be critic - that's very important

  3. Then, double down on the intersections (if you and the AI worried about the same things, there's something wrong there!), and reflect upon the new things he showed you.

That way, I guarantee, you will truly be leveraging AI in your favor 😊
